Ehsan Mani seeks another term in office

PCB Chairman Ehsan Mani to meet with the Prime Minister/Thecorrespondent.pk

On Monday, the PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani is to meet with the Prime Minister Imran Khan in an effort to keep his position. Mani’s term as chairmen ends on 25th August. And the PCB will have a new chairman by the first week of september.

In his three years, Pakistan’s performance has been inconsistent. Mani’s first obective was the development of a consitution of the board. Although it was formulated two years ago it still hasn’t been implemented.

No proper criteria have been placed to judge the current form, fitness, and quality of players who were included in teams to play inter-city competitions. Lastly, PCb still controls the reins from Lahore instead of devolving it to the provinces.

The PCB has yet to attract sponsors to support provincial associations. Leading departments have already refused to be part of this practice.

As for the successor to the Chairman’s post, for the first time in the country’s cricket history, there has been no recognised and approved competition at the club level.

One great success of Mani’s term will be the resupmtion of International cricket in Pakistan. The PCB was able to follow keep up with the challenges imposed by COVID-19 and continue domestic and international cricket.

According to reports, Ramiz raja’s name is flaoting around as a strong contender for the post of PCB Chairman. He also commands the support of former President and forerunner for the Chairman’s post.

Even during his cricketing career, Majid had special liking for Raja. It was because of Majid that Ramiz was seen leading the capital team in the Quaid-i-Azam Trophy in the nineties.

Alongwith Raja, Dr Jawad Sajid is also being considered for a position at the board.Justice (rtd) Azmat Saeed has already been appointed as Election Commissioner to conduct PCB Chairman elections.
