ISLAMABAD: The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) has decided to extend the subsidy on five essential commodities — sugar, ghee, flour, legumes, and rice — at Utility Stores for another 15 days.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the ECC chaired by Finance Minister Shaukat Tarin on Monday.
The ECC also took up a request by the Ministry of Industries and Production, wherein it had asked for a six-month extension in the subsidy to the sector. The ECC formed a committee to look into the request. The committee will report to the ECC after its review.
The ECC has also approved supplementary grants for the Interior Ministry and other departments.
