England’s Dawid Malan on Saturday night became the quickest to reach 1,000 runs in T20 internationals. The left-hander broke Babar Azam’s record who reached the milestone in 2018 in 26 innings.
Malan, who is currently the number one ranked batsmen in the shortest format accomplished this feat during the fifth T20I between India and England. He took just 24 innings to reach this.
In terms of Englishmen, Malan has overtaken Kevin Pietersen and Alex Hales who have achieved this milestone in their 32nd game.
Chasing 225 to win the match and series, the left-hander scored a brilliant 68 off 46. Malan along with Jos Buttler stitched a brilliant 129 run partnership to set a great foundation but a late order collapse saw England lose the game.
