ISLAMABAD: Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) chief Dr Qibla Ayaz has said that people can be administered coronavirus vaccine during Ramzan as it doesn’t break the fast.
Speaking to the media after the 223rd session of the CII, Dr Ayaz urged people to follow the coronavirus guidelines, especially in mosques and seminaries.
According to the council, coronavirus is a “deadly pandemic, social distancing must be maintained to save lives as endorsed in the Sharia”. The forum also discussed the role of religious scholars in implementing anti-COVID SOPs during Ramzan.
The apex Islamic body also rejected the one-member minority commission report presented by Dr Shoaib Suddle and decided to write a letter to the education ministry seeking time to further deliberate on the report.
The CII termed the recommendations “unconstitutional”. “CII would prepare its recommendations after thorough perusal and deliberations,” the body added.
Qibla informed that said during the meeting he briefed the members about his meeting with the president of Pakistan, saying, the president has directed preparing the narrative on over 70 topics to improve social cohesion and harmony for onward dissemination in the Friday congregations.
