COVID-19 positivity rate crosses 3% after three weeks

Pakistan’s COVID-19 positivity rate hits 3% for the first time in three weeks. In the last 24 hours, the country recorded 17 fatalities due to COVID-19 while 1,517 people tested positive, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Sindh followed by Punjab.

As of July 7, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 34,031. On Tuesday, 46,287 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 16,218; Punjab: 17,121; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 8,967; Islamabad(ICT): 1,960; Balochistan: 714; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB): 375 and Azad Kashmir (AJK): 932.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 197 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB, and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 909,525 recoveries.

A total of 966,007 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 20,641; Balochistan: 27,502; GB: 6,574; ICT: 83,155, KP: 138,727; Punjab: 347,180 and Sindh: 342,228.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 22,469 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 10,791 casualties followed by Sindh: 5,536 KP: 4,346; Islamabad: 781; Balochistan: 315; GB: 111 and AJK: 589.

639 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,187 patients being treated across the country. A total of 14,861,926 tests have been conducted so far in the country since the pandemic started.
