COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,253 cases, 92 fatalities in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, Pakistan recorded 92 deaths while 2,253 people tested positive for COVID-19, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

As of May 23, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 62,295. Yesterday, 46,726 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 11,388; Punjab: 22,389; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 6,250; Islamabad(ICT): 4,114; Balochistan: 1,498; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB): 400 and Azad Kashmir(AJK): 687.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 522 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in AJK, GB, and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 823,157 recoveries.

A total of 905,852 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 18,852; Balochistan: 24,638; GB: 5,512; ICT: 80,529, KPK: 130,187; Punjab:335,577 and Sindh: 310,557.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 20,400 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 9,839 casualties followed by Sindh:4,936; KPK: 3,970; Islamabad: 746; Balochistan: 270; GB: 107 and AJK: 532.

639 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 4,723 patients being treated across the country. A total of 12,884,544 tests have been conducted so far in the country since the pandemic begun.
