COVID-19: Pakistan reports 118 deaths, 3,785 cases in 24 hours

The third wave of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc as Pakistan reported 118 more deaths taking the total death tally to 18,915. Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).

In the last 24 hours, 3,785 people tested positive for the virus, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

As of April May 9, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 81,830. Yesterday, 40,736 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 13,079; Punjab: 15,148; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa(KP): 6,824; Islamabad(ICT): 3,411; Balochistan: 1,147; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB): 270 and Azad Kashmir(AJK): 857.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 652 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator in GB and Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 757,281 recoveries.

A total of 858,026 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 17,866; Balochistan: 23,324 ; GB:5,380; ICT: 77,974, KP:123,842; Punjab: 317,972 and Sindh: 291,668.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 18,915 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 9,032 casualties followed by Sindh:4,726; KP:3,588; Islamabad: 708; Balochistan: 247; GB: 107 and AJK: 507.

639 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 5,416 patients being treated across the country. A total of 12,190,671 tests have been conducted so far.
