Coronavirus positivity rate in Pakistan has fallen below 6.5 percent due to government’s timely extension in smart lockdown, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) reported on Wednesday.
The coronavirus claimed 83 more lives with 3,902 new cases reported during the last 24 hours.
According to NCOC data, 60,537 people were tested for COVID-19 of whom 3,902 were positive. It brought the positivity rate to 6.44 percent.
With the addition of new cases, the total number of confirmed cases went up to 1,190,136 and of deaths to 26,413.
A total 1,071,976 people have so far recovered from the coronavirus, while the total number of active cases in the country fell to 91,747.
Pakistan has been reporting an average 3,730 new infections daily, 64 percent of the peak, the highest average reported on June 17.
The country has vaccinated at least 63,319,214 against COVID-19. Assuming every person needs two doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 14.6 percent of the country’s population.
During the past week, Pakistan administered an average 1,216,860 doses each day. At that rate, it will take 36 days to administer enough doses for another 10 percent of the population.
