Pakistan reported 79 deaths due to coronavirus during the last 24 hours as overall positivity rate remained less than 7 percent for the fourth consecutive day.

According to National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) data on Saturday, the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the country has risen to 26,114, while the total number of cases has reached 1,175,558.

The NCOC said 64,053 COVID-19 tests were conducted across the country in the last 24 hours, of which 3,980 were positive.

The positivity rate during the last 24 hours was 6.21 percent. Since August 24, Pakistan’s positivity rate has been under 7 percent except two days when it exceeded the threshold.

The country has been reporting less than 4,000 daily infections during this week.

Pakistan is reporting an average 3,885 new infections daily, 66 percent of the peak — the highest daily average reported on June 17.

The country has administered 59,384,758 doses of coronavirus vaccines so far. Assuming every person needs two doses, that’s enough to have vaccinated about 13.7 percent of the country’s population.

During the last week, Pakistan administered average 1,072,051 doses a day. At that rate, it will take further 41 days to administer enough doses for another 10 percent of the population.
