Veteran comedian Umer Sharif has been shifted to the critical care unit (CCU) after his condition deteriorated due to which his departure for the United States has been delayed.
The star was undergoing dialysis when his blood pressure dropped and he was moved to critical care.
According to doctors, he will be under observation for the next 48 hours.
Meanwhile, the air ambulance, that was to fly out the comedian, has reached Karachi.
Last week, it was reported that Umer has been issued a US visa where he would be flown to undergo treatment. He has been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Karachi and was deemed fit to fly abroad for further treatment on Tuesday.
Earlier, the Sindh government approved Rs40 million for his treatment. The funds are to be used to cover the expense of an air ambulance and related costs for Sharif’s treatment abroad.
“We are committed to bearing the expenses of Umer Sharif Sahib’s treatment expenditures,” Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab had said.
He confirmed that the funds have been released and transferred to the family.
