China has allowed a team of World Health Organisation (WHO) experts to probe Covid-19 origins in the country, days after a blockade by Beijing. According to China’s National Health Commission, the team will commence research on January 14.
This development comes after China had inhibited a World Health Organisation (WHO) team inspecting COVID-19’s origins, from entering the country. It had alleged that their visas were unapproved, although some members of the team were already on their way and learned later on that they had not been granted entry.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, WHO’s Director General had said on the occasion, “I’m very disappointed with this news, given that two members have already begun their journeys, and others were not able to travel at the last minute.”
