Brentford deny Liverpool in 3-3 thriller

The newly-promoted Brentford side has defied all the odds as they came twice from behind against the title-challengers Liverpool to celebrate a 3-3 draw in the ‘crazy’ and ‘wild game’.

In a memorable and topsy-turvy game at the Brentford Community Stadium, the hosts scored a dramatic late equalizer to make it 3-3 after Curtis Jones goal seemed to have sealed victory for Liverpool.

Salah scored his 100th goal in his 151st league game for Liverpool and become the fastest player to score 100 goals in the club’s history but the Brentford performance stole the limelight as they held Salah’s side back to a draw.

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said they “went toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in Europe”.

Frank added that his players did a lap of honor at full-time, the fans were singing long after the final whistle adding that Brentford goalscorer Vitaly Janelt was in disbelief.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp in the post-match interview said, “That’s football,”

“I’m not sure enjoy is the right word. It was a wild ride,” said Klopp. “Brentford deserved a point. I have no problem with accepting it when you play this kind of football.”

Brentford goalkeeper David Raya Martin said that the was crazy adding that his side had gone toe-to-toe and Liverpool had had their spells but his team played really well and were solid.

Former Arsenal and England striker Alan Smith was impressed claiming that If Brentford could do this to Liverpool, they could do this to anyone.

Former England striker Alan Shearer said, “Brentford were intelligent, brave and caused Liverpool all sort of problems. They had a game plan that worked to perfection.”
