Arrest warrants are issued against Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed in the case of alleged desecration of Wazir Khan Mosque by a Lahore District court.
Jowaria Munir Bhatti a judicial Magistrate issued bailable arrest warrants for the actor Saba Qamar and the singer Bilal Saeed when the two missed their hearings. The next case hearing is set for October 6.
The two artists were criticized in August 2020 when they had shot footage inside the historic Wazir Khan Mosque while working on a video of a song, “Qubool hai”.
A session court had directed the concerned police station to legally proceed on an application that sought registration of a case against the two and others for shooting the video.
Subsequently, An FIR was registered against the two under section 295 Pakistan Penal Code which deals with the offense of the desecration and defilement of a place of worship with intent to insult the religion.
Initially, the two were granted pre-arrest bail on August 15, 2020, for ten days with a further extension in September 2020.
The counsel of the two Called the FIR baseless and contrary to the facts. He said no dance or music was performed in the mosque as mentioned in the FIR and the two were innocent and falsely accused in the case for some underlying motives.
