Argentina plans to buy JF-17 Thunder from Pakistan

Argentina plans to buy JF-17 Thunder from Pakistan the correspondent.pk

Argentina has been planning to buy 12 JF-17A Block-III fighter jets from Pakistan as the Argentinian government proposed $664 million in its national budget.

The reports came from international media as the Argentinian parliamentarian proposed a $664 million defense allocation.

The proposal of allocation suggests the deal as international media has pointed out but it does not mean that a deal is finalized because the sale contract is yet to be signed.

The Argentinian government was enthusiastic about purchasing JF-17 last year when the deal was blocked by Britain’s embargo on Argentina.

The UK has been maintaining the embargo on Argentina since the Falklands War in 1982.

Buenos Aires has tried to purchase fighter jets from Sweden and South Korea since 2015, but the sellers backed out from the deal due to British pressure.

The shortage of funds for the defense was another complication in the deals which could be resolved with the allocation of the proposed money in the Argentinian National budget.

JF-17 Thunder is a lightweight, advanced, single-engine, fourth-generation, multi-role combat aircraft developed by the joint venture of Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) and the Chengdu Aircraft Industry Corporation of China.
