The Awami National Party (ANP) has decided to part ways with the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) a day after a show-cause notice was issued to the party leadership.
Addressing a press conference after a meeting, ANP leader Amir Haider Hoti said that the ANP leaders will step down from all the PDM positions. Amir Haider Hoti, Mian Iftikhar and Zahid Khan held positions in the PDM.
He alleged that some opposition parties in the PDM wanted to use the alliance to serve their personal interests.
Hoti questioned the reported alliance between the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Larkana. He also alluded to the Punjab Senate elections where candidates were elected unopposed following a deal between the political parties.
He said the issuance of show-cause notice was akin to breaking up the multi-party alliance, adding that no one is authorised to issue a show-cause notice to ANP except its president Asfand Yar Wali.
