Another member of Pakistan team in New Zealand tests positive for COVID-19

Another member of the Pakistan’s squad in New Zealand has tested positive for COVID-19, taking the total number to eight.

On Wednesday, the New Zealand health authorities confirmed a new case while two other members are being investigated. The Pakistan team has been stopped from training together until doctors are sure about the fact that it will not lead to further cases.

Last week, six players test came out positive while CCTV footages also showed violations of the SOP’s by the players. Another member tested positive on Saturday.

The Director-General of Health Ashley Bloomfield issued the team with a “final warning” last week for flouting social distancing protocols at their hotel.

The 53-member Pakistani contingent arrived in New Zealand on November 24, and are observing a two-week mandatory quarantine. The tour will officially start on December 18 with the T20 series in Auckland.

New Zealand is among those few countries which have controlled the spread of the virus and the on-going series against West Indies is being played in front of crowds.
