Aleem Dar becomes first umpire to stand in 400 international games

The veteran umpire has officiated a record 136 Tests, 211 ODIs and 53 ODIs so far in his career

Pakistan’s Aleem Dar has become the first umpire in the history of the game to officiate 400 international matches. He achieved this feat after officiating the third T20I against Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

With this, he also surpassed his Pakistani counterpart Ahsan Raza to officiate the most number of T20Is.

The 52-year-old already holds the record for officiating the most number of Tests and ODIs. So far, he has stood in 136 Tests and 211 ODIs.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) also lauded Aleem’s Dar illustrious career and said, “Congratulations to umpire Aleem Dar, who is standing in his 400th men’s international game today. What an achievement!”

The veteran umpire thanked the ICC and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for all their support throughout his career.

“I would like to dedicate this achievement to my parents and family members. I would like to thank the ICC, the PCB and my club P and T Gym Khana along with my mentor Azhar Zaidi. I wou ld also like to thank the club officials for all their help and support,” Dar said. 

Dar made his umpiring debut in 2000 in an ODI against Pakistan and SriLanka. He has also won the umpire of the year award three times from 2009 to 2011.
