Afghan situation: Rashid says next three to four months crucial for Pakistan

Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has said that next three to four months are crucial for Pakistan as Islamabad will be under pressure regarding the emerging situation in Afghanistan.

The minister, while appearing in a talk show of a news TV channel, reiterated Prime Minister Imran Khan’s commitment that Pakistan’s soil would not be used for a war against any state.

Pakistan has no intention of getting involved in any conflict, he added.

The interior minister said “the country can get itself out of this situation if it boldly faces the challenges.”

“Peace is Pakistan’s only agenda,” he continued.

Sheikh Rashid said the country made a mistake by allowing the United States to use air base in Jacobabad, a possible reference to the Abbottabad operation.

He said that Afghanistan would be facing difficult situations, including the threat of Daesh.
