Actor Majid Jahangir seeks payment of promised financial assistance

Star of the small screen, Majid Jahangir, best known for his role in the 1980s popular TV show, Fifty Fifty, has demanded that he be paid financial aid promised to him about a year ago by the Sindh governor.

Actor Majid is suffering from depression. He was awarded the Medal of Distinction on Independence Day in 2020 but his appeal for financial aid is yet to be responded to.

Majid shared Sindh Governor Imran Ismail invited him before August 14, 2020, and informed him that he was being awarded the Medal of Distinction by President Arif Alvi on Independence Day.

The governor was grateful of his 50 years of artistic service, but when he informed him of his need for medical treatment, he promised financial aid. However, he said, he still awaits promised help.

Majid said he requires Rs25,000 to Rs30,000 per month for medicines, with his physiotherapy and his examination expenses added. With no family members living, some friends are helping in these difficult times.

Majid, who recently shifted to Lahore from Karachi, is being taken care of by his friend, Masood. The actor is currently living in a house given by Malik Riaz.

He appealed to the president, the prime minister and the chief ministers of the four provinces to look into the matter as his services were not limited to a province but to the whole country.

Majid also complained about his fellow artists. He said that he had been undergoing treatment in a hospital in Lahore for almost a month now, but no one turned up to see him.
