Over the last 24 hours, 2,482 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 50 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). The trend continued with Punjab reporting the most number of deaths in the country, closely followed by Sindh.
As of January 7, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 34,049. Yesterday, 40,509 tests were conducted, with Sindh conducting 13,699; Punjab 15,562; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) 4,798; Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) 5,167; Balochistan 599; Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) 413, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) 271.
Of the 1756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 315 are currently occupied. Of these, 45% are utilised in Multan, 42% in Islamabad, 41% in Bahawalpur, and 37% in Lahore. There is no patient on the vent in AJK, GB and Balochistan.
A total of 495,075 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 8,416; Balochistan 18,300; GB 4,874, ICT 38,687, KPK 60,229; Punjab 142,835, and Sindh 220,501.
Till now, Pakistan has recorded 10,511 deaths by COVID-19. Punjab leads the list with 4,203 casualties followed by 3,653 in Sindh, 1,702 in KPK; 434 in ICT; 186 in Balochistan; 101 in GB, and 232 in AJK.
626 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,771 patients being treated. So far, 450,518 people have recovered from the coronavirus across Pakistan.
