At least 393 coronavirus patients are battling for life on ventilators whereas 3,490 critical cases are being treated at hospitals across Pakistan, according to the data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Saturday.
Pakistan reported 4,723 new cases amid an unrelenting third wave of the virus. Over the last 24 hours, 84 people passed away: 45 patients, including eight on ventilators, died in hospitals. Punjab continues to register the greatest number of COVID-19 deaths, followed by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
A total of 14,697 deaths have been registered across Pakistan so far.
The number of fatalities registered in the provinces stands at 6,523 in Punjab, 4,506 in Sindh, 2,417 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), 574 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 211 in Balochistan, 103 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 363 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As of April 3, 2021, there are 58,500 active cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan.
Yesterday, 50,186 tests were conducted across Pakistan, with 9,050 conducted in Sindh, 23,029 in Punjab, 8,239 in KP, 7,491 in ICT, 1,156 in Balochistan, 346 in GB, and 875 in AJK.
631 hospitals within Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities, with 4,220 patients admitted across the country.
Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 393 are occupied across Pakistan. 70% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Multan, 65% in Lahore, 60% in Gujranwala, and 56% in Islamabad. No patients are on ventilators in Balochistan, GB, and AJK.
Of the allotted oxygen bed, 85% are occupied in Gujranwala, 77% in Gujrat, 74% in Peshawar, and 71% in Swat.
To date, a total of 682,888 COVID-19 cases have been reported in Pakistan (AJK 13,176; Balochistan 19,679; GB 5,045; ICT 60,197; KP 90,262; Punjab 228,356; Sindh 266,173). 10,347,730 tests have so far been conducted across the country. So far, 609,691 people have recovered across Pakistan.
