3,179 COVID-19 cases and 87 deaths registered across Pakistan in one day

Over the last 24 hours, 3,179 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan, according to data released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Meanwhile, 87 people lost their lives to the virus. Of these, the most COVID-19 deaths occured in Punjab, followed by Sindh.

On December 18, 74 people died in hospitals, with 45 of them on ventilators. 13 deaths occured outside hospitals.

As of December 19, there are 40,922 active cases of COVID-19 in Pakistan.

Yesterday, 48,075 tests were conducted across Pakistan, with 20,681 conducted in Sindh, 15,133 in Punjab, 5513 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 5749 in Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT), 337 in Balochistan, 373 in Gilgit Baltistan (GB), and 589 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

Of the vents reserved for COVID-19 patients, 279 vents are occupied across Pakistan. 46% are the reserved vents are occupied in Multan, 41% in Islamabad, 34% in Lahore, and 21% in Peshawar. No patients are on ventilator in Balochistan and GB. Of the allotted oxygen beds, 59% are occupied in Peshawar, 42% in Islamabad, 40% in Rawalpindi, and 39% in Abbottabad.

Till date, a total of 454,673 COVID-19 cases have been detected in Pakistan (AJK 7937, Balochistan 17880, GB 4814, ICT 35905, KP 54448, Punjab 130706, Sindh 202983). 6,264,135 tests have so far been conducted, and 9250 total deaths have been registered. The number of fatalities registered in the provinces stand at 3302 in Sindh, 3558 in Punjab, 1521 in KP, 388 in ICT, 179 in Balochistan, 99 in GB, and 203 in AJK.

So far, 404,501 people have recovered across Pakistan, making it a significant count.
