Pakistan saw 2128 COVID-19 positive cases on 15 November, according to data from the National Command and Operation Centre. In the last 24 hours, 19 people lost their lives due to the virus.
As of 16 November, the total number of active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan is 28,048, with a total of 29,511 tests conducted on 15 November; 11,353 in Sindh, 11,361 in Punjab, 5,112 in Khyber Pakhtunkhua, 437 in Balochistan, 304 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 944 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
Pakistan has witnessed a significant amount of recoveries from the virus so far, bringing the count to 323,824 as of today.
Currently, there are no COVID-19 patients on ventilators in neither Azad Jammu and Kashmir nor Balochistan.
359,032 COVID-19 cases have been detected so far in Pakistan; 5455 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir, 16407 in Balochistan, 4452 in Gilgit-Baltistan, 24218 in Islamabad, 42370 in Khyber Pakhtunkhua, 110450 in Punjab and 155680 in Sindh.
There have been a total of 7160 deaths in Pakistan so far; 2747 in Sindh, 2475 in Punjab, 1311 in Khyber Pakhtunkhua, 257 in Islamabad, 156 in Balochistan, 93 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 121 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
4,950,561 tests have been conducted in the country since the pandemic started. A total number of 735 hospitals in Pakistan are facilitated to deal with the virus, while 1587 COVID-19 patients are currently admitted across the country.
Amid a surge in coronavirus cases, federal and provincial education ministers along with officials from the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) were to hold a meeting today to discuss strategies to deal with the situation, especially with regard to educational institutions.
Following the NCOC’s recommendation to enforce extended winter vacations in schools, Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood announced, last week, that a meeting would be held on Monday, 16 November.
“We have convened an important meeting of provincial ministers on Monday at 11:00 am to discuss latest coronavirus situation in the country. As stated before, health of students is our no.1 priority.” he said.
However, it was announced today that the meeting would be postponed for a week.
Sindh Chief Minister, Murad Ali Shah tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, stating that he would isolate himself as per his doctor’s advice.
For the fourth consecutive day today, Pakistan has reported over 2,000 cases in a span of 24 hours.
