ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad police thwarted an untoward incident on Monday as they arrested a man brandishing weapons outside the Parliament House located in Red Zone.

According to police, the man was carrying two handguns and he was waving them at the time of the arrest. At the time of the arrest, the Senate deputy chairman’s vehicle was entering the building of parliament.

The law enforcement agencies (LEAs) shifted him to the police station for further questioning.

It remains unclear how the suspect managed to enter the high-security zone with the weapons. Police have yet to issue a statement on the incident.
