Prime Minister Imran Khan said that the government would place Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan’s demand for severing ties with France before parliament.
The TLP has demanded deportation of French ambassador, ratification of blasphemy bill and a ban on French goods. In an interview with a local news channel, PM Imran Khan said the TLP has agreed to extend deadline from February to April 20. He said TLP’s demands would be forwarded to the parliament. The TLP had threatened to stage a sit-in in Islamabad if government would not implement Nov 16, 2020 agreement with in three months.
The prime minster said no one had done more than him to raise the issue of blasphemy on the world forums. “I wrote to the OIC, to the United Nations and heads of Islamic states to take up the issue. Only I and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took up the matter on the world forums.”
