After coming into power, the Taliban have started rebuilding Afghanistan’s infrastructure.
Now the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), the country’s infrastructure had been wrecked by countless wars.
The Taliban, to counter the criticism from foreign and local elements denouncing them as “barbarians”, have started to focus on restoring Afghanistan’s basic infrastructure.
One of the key projects the new government has prioritized is repairing the Kabul-Kandahar main road. Roads are vital to the economy and connectivity of the country, and the Taliban need them to maintain control over other parts of Afghanistan.
Concrete walls and road barriers are also gradually being removed by the municipality in Kabul. Now there won’t be any road or street blockages. This step needs to be ensured so Kabul city can return to its original way of life.
The gates of Ghazni City, which had been torn apart and destroyed by the fighting, were in danger of collapsing. The regime’s rivals were also using them to spread propaganda. Seen as an essential landmark of the city, its restoration is of critical importance.
The “New Taliban,” as they are being called, need to have diplomacy as their key objective. In order to gain the trust of the rest of the World, they need to prove their dedication towards providing human rights.
These types of infrastructure restoration projects have always proved to be effective and have excellent optics. Something the Taliban are in desperate need of to have their government be officially recognized in the UN.
To be a part of the modern World and establish trade and political ties, the IEA needs to prove itself first by showing results within the country. So far, they have proved to be more than sensible about these matters with a clear strategy in mind.
