University students have been posting complaints on social media against the conduction of physical exams in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. The hashtag “#online_exams_only” became part of Pakistan’s top five trends on Twitter on Wednesday, even reaching the number one spot earlier in the day. It was trended along other hashtags such as “#SayNoToOfflineExams” and “#SayNoToPhysicalExams.”
The hashtag appears to be initiated by students of the University of Management and Technology (UMT), who tagged Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood en-masse in posts complaining against offline exams.
“We are not against exams,” a student posted. “We are just against on campus exams because, the whole semester was online and exams should be online.”
Students of Air University, Islamabad and Government College University, Faisalabad, and University of Haripur also contributed to the online trends, registering their protest against taking physical exams.
