In a bid to stem the spread of COVID-19 in the province, the government of Punjab has imposed a smart lockdown in ten areas of Rawalpindi district.
These areas include Takbeer Lane, Muhallah Adiala, Judicial apartments, Civil Lines, Gulshan-e-Saeed, Chakri Road and Hashmi Colony were identified as virus hotspots, according to a notification issued by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Care Department.
The entry and exit points of these areas have been sealed for the next 10 days.
“All markets, shopping malls, restaurants, offices (public and private) shall remain closed in these areas. There shall be a complete ban on movement of people to and from these areas by public and private transport except for the limited movement of one person per vehicle to and from the exempted facilities.”
All medical stores, essential food item shops, petrol pumps, meat and fruit shops will remain open in these areas.
