Sindh govt to take decision on reopening schools on Aug 17

The Sindh government will decide on Tuesday (August 17) when to reopen schools across the province.

A meeting of the steering committee, presided over by Sindh Education Minister Sardar Shah and attended by representatives of all public and private educational institutions, will take a decision in this regard.

The Sindh government had on August 8 decided to keep the schools closed till Muharram 10. However, Intermediate and Matriculation examinations resumed on August 10.

The decision on reopening schools will be taken after considering the coronavirus situation in the province.

Educational institutions were to reopen on August 2 but the decision was deferred because the Sindh government reimposed lockdown due to rise in coronavirus positivity ratio.

Earlier this week, Pakistan decided to change its grading scheme for matric and intermediate students. It was decided to hold examinations of elective subjects only and not of compulsory subjects. It was decided that the marks students receive on their electives, a proportionate of that will be applied to the compulsory subjects and they will be graded accordingly.
