Prime Minister Imran Khan has rejected the resignation of Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed, asking him to continue working as the interior minister.
Sheikh Rasheed met Prime Minister Imran Khan to briefed about the situation and new agreement with the TLP.
According to the news channels, Prime Minister Imran Khan asked Sheikh Rasheed to continue working as the interior minister as he has “done a good job” on handling the TLP protests.
It may be noted that the minister had offered to quit the interior minister after criticism on handling the TLP protests. Rasheed also led the government team that negotiated with the TLP leadership in Lahore.
Earlier in the day, the interior minister announced in the wee hours that the government and the banned outfit have reached an agreement.
“After detailed discussions with TLP it has been agreed that the government will table the resolution in the National Assembly today,” he added. He said that the TLP had agreed to call off protests across the country. The cases registered against TLP workers under the Fourth Schedule will be withdrawn, he added.
