KARACHI: Pakistan’s Sazgar Engineering Works Limited in partnership with China’s Great Wall Motors plans to start commercial production of HAVAL by the end of June next year.
The Ministry of Industries and Production has awarded “Category A, Greenfield Investment Status” to Sazgar Engineering and approved MS Great Wall Motor Company as the second principle for the assembly and manufacture of the vehicles.
“The company expects to commence commercial production of GWM “HAVAL” vehicles up to June 30, 2022, Sazgar Engineering Works Limited said in a statement to the Pakistan Stock Exchange. The approval for MS Great Wall Motors for the commercial production of HAVAL by the government is in addition to BIAC vehicles, the statement said.
Pakistan’s Sazgar Engineering Works Limited, largely known for its three-wheeler rickshaws, has initiated imports of completely built-up vehicles from China’s Great Wall Motors (GWM) HAVAL in May this year and applied for a licence to manufacture and assemble market vehicles under the Chinese brand HAVAL.
HAVAL is a specialist manufacturer of SUVs owned by Great Wall Motors, introduced in 2013. Earlier this year, at the HAVAL Global 5-million-sales Grand Ceremony and Global Strategic Conference, the company upgraded its brand positioning from ‘SUV leader’ to ‘global SUV leader born in China’.
The HAVAL 521 Globalization Strategy was then officially released to target annual sales of 2 million units within 5 years and to become a globally recognised brand. Globally, the company has established wholly-owned subsidiaries in Russia, Australia, South Africa, India, and the United States, and has formed a sales network in more than 60 countries and regions.
With more than 500 distributors, HAVAL ranks first among Chinese brands in the auto export volume in more than 30 states.
