KARACHI: Pakistan’s Sazgar Engineering Works Limited has initiated imports of completely built-up vehicles from China’s Great Wall Motors (GWM) Haval, a company known for manufacturing sport utility vehicles. Sazgar’s Gawal vehicles are expected to create competition amongst the SUV market in Pakistan.
“Haval is very interested in setting up a manufacturing facility in Pakistan,” sources in Sazgar Engineering present during the meeting that finalized agreement between two companies informed TheCorrespondent with anonymity.
“The company has already started a survey for land and marketing networks including export for the Great Wall Motors from Pakistan.” He said the plan is to market these vehicles in Pakistan and build the manufacturing facility to cater local and export market in the region, he further added.
Sazgar Engineering in a statement issued today at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) informed that booking of completely built up vehicles through the authorised dealership network of Great Wall Motors, Haval has been started.
Yesterday, Sazgar opened booking for Haval’s Jolion that costs Rs5,525,000, while the booking amount is 2million. Meanwhile, price for Haval H6 is being set at Rs6,295,000, with the booking amount at Rs2,300,000.
Haval Jolion is relatively a small SUV powered by a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). Meanwhile, the H6 is bigger with a higher engine capacity. Haval’s H6 is one of the highest selling SUVs in the world.
Haval is one of the market leaders in China in the SUV segment and leads ahead of Hyundai and MG Motors, according to the company’s details on its website. It is a subsidiary of Great Wall Motors and focuses on SUVs and pickups.
