Kuwait’s Foreign Minister has announced that Saudi Arabia has opened its land border with Qatar, ending a prolonged blockade. The Foreign Minister revealed that it will also reopen its airspace.
This development could ease the years-long dispute between Riyadh and Qatar, that led to a diplomatic and political boycott. On June 5, 2017, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt broke off diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing it of supporting terrorism and gearing towards closer ties with Iran.
Under the new development, the four countries will finally lift Qatar’s embargo. In response, Qatar will eliminate lawsuits pertaining to the blockade.
