Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Overseas Pakistanis Zulfiqar Bukhari on Thursday contradicted media reports that there is a ban on issuance of new employment visas for Pakistanis, saying that “there is no ban on export of Pakistani workforce”.
In a series of tweets Mr Bukhari referenced a conversation with UAE Minister for Human Resources and Emiratisation Nasser bin Thani Al Hamli who had “categorically stated” there is no ban. He further stated UAE was giving priority to those workers, who were registered on the Virtual Labour Market Database and had been laid off due to the economic slump caused by COVID-19.
The tweets come after reports emerged that the UAE had temporarily suspended issuing visas to citizens of a 13 Muslim majority countries, including Pakistan.
