Washington expressed concern regarding reports of “unusual” Russian military activity near Ukraine.

US’s top diplomat Antony Blinken said on Wednesday during a joint news conference with Ukraine Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba that any escalators or aggressive actions by Russia would be “a great concern” to Washington.

Blinken added, “We’re monitoring the region very closely. As we always do, we’ll continue to consult closely as well with allies and partners on this issue”.

The US is an active supporter of de-escalation in the region and wanted a diplomatic resolution to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. He remarked, “We stand with Ukraine”.

Kuleba appreciated the US for defending Ukraine’s “sovereignty and territorial integrity in the face of the ongoing Russian aggression.”

Kuleba added, “And I appreciate the messages that were conveyed to us today by our American partners. We are grateful for the readiness of the United States to expand cooperation with Ukraine. The best way to deter aggressive Russia is to make it clear for the Kremlin that Ukraine is strong.”

As per The Associated Press, the Ukrainian Defense Ministry said a few days ago that Russia has continued its military buildup near its border and had 90,000 of its troops stationed.

The Pentagon demanded on Wednesday that Moscow should come forward and be transparent with the global community regarding its actions and intention in the region.
