The Punjab government has decided to reopen schools from August 2 as the National Command and Control Center (NCOC) authorised the provinces to take the final decision in this regard keeping in view the latest situation of coronavirus.
The NCOC held a meeting on Wednesday in which it was decided that board examinations would be conducted according to schedule.
The meeting agreed to reopen schools but left the final decision to the provincial governments.
It is learnt that the provinces have decided to follow the schedule and the Punjab announced reopening of schools while other provinces have not taken a decision yet. Classes may be rescheduled keeping in view the coronavirus situation.
Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas had on June 29 announced that schools in the province would observe summer vacation from July 1 to August 1.
The coronavirus cases have been on the rise across Pakistan and the situation in Karachi has attained alarming proportions.
Interestingly, no provincial education minister attended the NCOC meeting.
