Islamabad, 19 November 2020: Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, said the current government will no longer be in power come January 2021.
He said the last three generations of Gilgit Baltistanis (GB) have been supporting the PPP and that during this election, the women were not allowed to vote in Tangir. He demanded that these women get their right to vote, and that once the election commission recounts the votes, PPP will win more seats.
The recounting has been ordered on GB-21 where ballot boxes were stolen. Elections are also being held in GB-3 and he appealed the people to vote for PPP in this constituency. Bilawal called out the Election Commissioner, saying he was taking too long in announcing the results and accusing him of being biased towards the federal government.
Bilawal also talked about a photo of the Election Commissioner sitting with the governor of GB, Amin Gandapur, and demanded an explanation for why the two parties were together. He claimed that the Election Commissioner has sold the land of GB as well as the people.
Two reports have concluded that rigging took place during the GB elections; the HRCP report and the Fafen report. The Fafen report says that at least three incidents of rigging and irregularities were reported from every polling station.
Bilawal saluted the people of GB who gave the federal government a hard time to form their government in GB. He appealed to the independent winners not to trade their victory to a government which, according to Bilawal, is about to end by January. He told independent candidates to not become a minister for two to three months, and asked them to protect the rights of people of GB by not being cheated by the federal government.
When responding to questions, Bilawal said that the federal government is telling every independent candidate that they are in the running of becoming the chief minister, but this is befooling them. He emphasized that PTI is lying to them and an independent candidate will not be selected prime minister. He said that the PTI has not nominated their candidate for chief minister whereas the PPP has announced their candidate.
He further said that the Sindh government was the first in announcing measures to deal with the COVID-19 crisis, but Prime Minister Imran Khan has not risen to the challenge. Bilawal said that Imran Khan should be sent packing because he has failed on every front, from the Kashmir issue to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He concluded by saying that he will be addressing the rigging again in his speech at the PDM rally set place to take in Peshawar. Bilawal repeatedly said he will do whatever it takes to send Imran Khan packing.
