Korangi Additional SHO Siraj Khattak and other personnel were suspended over an alleged fake police encounter in the Korangi Industrial Area, Karachi.
On monday night, a young man Shehzad Chandiyo was shot dead by the police in a fire exchange, in Karachi’s Mehran town.
The deceased’s family members gathered to protest outside Karachi Press club. They raised slogans agaisnt the police. The family members claimed that Shehzad was innocent. They demanded that an FIR be lodged, to initiate official police proceedings. For them it is the only way to reach the roots of the issue.
Shehzad worked in a garment company. The deceased was allegedly on his way back from work alongwith his friend when the police. The police asked for the vehicle documents and Shehzad requested his friend to bring the papers from home. When the friend came back, Shehzad and the police were absent from the site.
The Landhi SP said that suspended policemen have been called for an inquiry. The police are investigating if the young man was innocent or wanted in any case.
Similarly, on Sunday another man passed away in an exchange of fire. Earlier this year, another case had been filed against two policemen over an allegedly fake encounter.
