Police have a registered a case against nine suspects, including Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) President Lala Latif Afridi, for their alleged involvement in the murder of an anti-terrorism court (ATC) judge who was gunned down along with family near Swabi on Sunday.
The case was registered on a complaint of the judge’s son at Chota Lahore police station. The FIR also nominated four unknown persons along with the senior lawyer. Other accused include Jamil, Danish Afridi, Jamal Afridi, and Abid Muhammad Shafiq.
Meanwhile, police have started making raids to arrest the suspects. According to the district police officer (DPO), a joint police team arrested five suspects in connection with the case. “Two vehicles mentioned in the FIR were also recovered from their possession,” he added.
The SCBA president, on other hand, denied his link to the murder. He condemned the murders, saying attacks on women and children are against the Pashtun traditions.
Aftab Afridi, the deceased judge, was posted in Swat two months ago. He was killed near Swabi Interchange on Sunday when he was on his way to Islamabad along with his wife and two children.
The attack was condemned by Prime Minister Imran Khan. “The perpetrators of this gruesome act will be apprehended and dealt with the full severity of the law,” he said in a tweet.
