Prime Minister Imran Khan will be inaugurating the Green Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service in Karachi on December 10.
Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar made the announcement regarding Karachi’s “first modern transport system” on Sunday using his Twitter handle.
Earlier on November 28 Asad Umar had said that the Karachi Green Line project will be complete for a trial run in the next 10 days.
He maintained that the project was reviewed in “detail” last month.
Umar wrote, “After the trial run Prime Minister Imran Khan will come to Karachi and inaugurate the project”.
Furthermore, he claimed that following a trial of “about two weeks” the commercial operation will be launched on December 25.
Earlier this year the first consignment of 40 Green Line Bus Rapid Transit System (BRT) —the port city’s first mass transit system — buses arrived from China.
The work on the Rs24 billion federal-funded project which was conceived by the previous Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) government had started in February 2016 and was scheduled to finish before the general election in July 2018.
