Prime Minister Imran Khan virtually participated in the “CPC and World Political Parties Summit” today. The premier was invited by the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee General Secretary and President of the People’s Republic of China, H.E. Xi Jinping.
“At the invitation of General Secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and President of the People’s Republic of China, HE Xi Jinping, Prime Minister Imran Khan will participate in CPC and World Political Parties Summit,” being held virtually today. General Secretary CPC and President Xi Jinping will chair the Summit,” said the Prime Minister’s House in a statement.
“More than 500 political parties and over 10,000 political workers/representatives from various parts of the world are expected to join and attend the virtual Summit. Twenty-one world leaders will join the Summit and make statements,” it added.
Prime Minister Imran Khan, Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf, delivered a speech. A Joint Statement of Proposals will be issued after the Summit.
General Secretary CPC and President Xi Jinping chaired the Summit. More than 500 political parties and over 10,000 political workers/representatives from various parts of the world attended the virtual Summit.

PM’s address
The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s support to Chinese leadership efforts to safeguard world peace and shared progress and prosperity through Belt and Road Initiative.
Lauding the efforts of the Chinese leadership, especially President Xi Jinping, the prime minister said that CPC’s had led to all-around national development and poverty eradication in China, a great achievement, and hoped that Pakistan would emulate these measures.
He said the CPC leadership had opened new vistas of thoughts for the political parties across the world.
President Xi played a pivotal role in poverty elimination in China, he said, terming it ‘the greatest achievement in the history of mankind’.
In the wake of the emerging global and regional environment, the prime minister said Pakistan had recalibrated its priorities from geo-politics to geo-economics.
“China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), the flagship project of BRI, complements Pakistan’s renewed efforts of this geo-economic shift with an emphasis on economic integration and regional connectivity,” he said. The prime minister said the abiding friendship with China and the CPEC complemented this vision of peace for themselves and others and shared prosperity and common development for their region and the world.
“Pakistan and China are ‘iron brothers.’ We support each other on issues of our respective core interests,” he added. He further said that the year also marked the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and China.
“Our two nations are celebrating this historic milestone in a befitting manner. I am confident that the year 2021 would provide new vigour and vitality to our time-tested friendship,” he observed.
