Prime Minister Imran Khan on Friday performed the groundbreaking of Lahore Development City’s (LDA) Naya Pakistan Apartments. Under this project, around 35,000 apartments will be built.
The premier while addressing the participants lauded the efforts of Imran Munir, Vice Chairman of Lahore Development Authority (LDA) and the Punjab government for bringing automation in the processes. “If we want to create ease of doing business then we have to go towards automation.”
Furthermore, the PM said that corruption hampers the growth and development of societies. In any department when you try to bring reform there is always resistance from the status quo. The corrupt people will do everything in their power to derail or create hurdles in the process.
PM Imran said, “Pakistan will have to transform itself if it needed to meet the challenges of the 21st century.” While praising the efforts of LDA and the Punjab government of starting the schemes for underprivileged people he also emphasised that more needs to be done.
“You can’t expect everyone who wants to build a house to have cash. Pakistanis who don’t have money should be able to build houses with the help of banks.” It took almost two years for our government to start this process, he said.
“The LDA has brought about a lot of improvements in itself and I hope they continue to reform themselves internally,” he said.
The premier is on a one day visit to Lahore and will also have important meetings with the Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and Governor Chaudhary Sarwar. He will also look at the steps taken by the Punjab government to check the prices of essential commodities in Ramzan.
