The Pakistani government on Thursday rejected a fake media report which alleged that Saudi Arabia had voted against Pakistan in the currently going FATF meeting.
Since the three-day plenary meeting is still underway, and the vote is yet to take place, the report is clearly false.
The official Twitter handle of the Pakistan government released a statement rejecting the news, as well as re-affirming Pakistan’s brotherly ties with Saudi Arabia.
This fake news can been considered part of the recent Indian misinformation campaign, which also falsely alleged that there was a “civil-war” in Pakistan on Wednesday. This conclusion is strengthened by the fact that Indian handles on the micro-blogging site that were pushing the narrative.
