Umer Sharif, the famous Pakistani comedian, has passed away, according to his wife Zareen Umer’s sister.

According to media reports, Pakistan’s famous comedian was scheduled to continue his journey to the United States (US) for medical treatment three days after his stay in Germany, but his departure was postponed owing to his critical condition. 

Conditioned worsened during flight to U.S.

After his health worsened during his flight to the United States, Umer Sharif was taken to a hospital in Nuremberg, Germany, on Wednesday. The comedian was diagnosed with a number of illnesses, including coronary disease.

After the air ambulance carrying Umer Sharif made a scheduled arrival in Germany, he was taken to the hospital.

Condolences pour in for Umer Sharif

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari expressed sadness over Umer Sharif’s demise, recalling his services to the country. Bilawal went on to praise the late comedian for helping to redefine comedy in Pakistan.

Khalil-Ur-Rehman Qamar, a scriptwriter and filmmaker, expressed his sorrow in a heartfelt Twitter message on Saturday.

“Comedy King Omar Sharif dies in German hospital May Allah count him among his closest people. May Allah forgive him.”

Kapil Sharma, an Indian comedian, too said his last goodbyes to the famous comic.

“Alvida may your soul Rest In Peace Folded #UmerShareef,” wrote Kapil.

Ali Zafar also extended his condolences saying a prayer for the departed soul.

Shoaib Akhtar mourned the loss of the great legend. Taking to twitter he wrote, “Legendary Umar Sharif sahab passed away. I have no words to express my sorrow & sadness. He has spread so much happiness & laughter in his lifetime to be remembered forever,” wrote former cricketer.

Umer Sharif was born in Liaquatabad, Karachi, on April 19, 1955, in an Urdu-speaking family. The celebrity was regarded as one of Asia’s most popular comedians.

Bakra Qiston Pay Part 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 (1989), Dulhan Main Lekar Jaonga, Salam Karachi, and others are among his critically acclaimed stage plays. Meri Bhi To Eid Karade, Nayee Aami Purana Abba, Yeh Hay Naya Tamasha, and Yeh Hay Naya Zamana are some of his most popular stage plays.
