Pakistan’s men’s cricket team is set to travel to Bangladesh in November. This will be Pakistan’s first bilateral series in Bangladesh since 2015. The teams will contest three T20Is and two Test matches, which will be a part of the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle.
The tour is scheduled immediately after the T20 World Cup in UAE and Oman. The timing may affect the preparation as well as the adherence to the COVID-19 protocols. If either of them or both get to the knockout stages of the tournament, even the customary three-day hotel quarantine for the tourists will be nigh on impossible.
The T20 World Cup will conclude on November 14 and the three T20Is are slated for November 19, 20 and 22. All of the matches will be played at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka as the pandemic has forced the Bangladesh Cricket Board to host the recent matches against Sri Lanka, Australia, and New Zealand sides only in Dhaka. Dhaka will also host the second Test from December 4 to 8. Meanwhile, the first Test will be held at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram from November 26 to 30, which will only be the third international fixture held at Chattogram this year. The previous two fixtures at the same venue were an ODI and a Test against West Indies in January-February.
The last time Pakistan and Bangladesh took on each other was in January 2020, which was shortened as the second Karachi Test scheduled for April was postponed due to the pandemic.
During Pakistan’s last bilateral visit to Bangladesh, the hosts won the ODI series 3-0 and also the solitary T20I, while the visitors won the Test series 1-0.
