Pakistan’s Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SEWL) has announced that it will be exporting its first batch of Rickshaws to Ethiopia.
Since Ethiopia is a landlocked country, public transport, specifically the cheaper options like rickshaws, has enormous demand.
SEWL will export a batch of 170 rickshaws to Ethiopia in September.
Sazgar is a Pakistan-based manufacturer of fully indigenous auto-rickshaws & other 3-wheeled transporters.
It is the largest manufacturer seller and distributor of 3-wheelers across Pakistan and is also the only exporter of 3-wheelers or any indigenously produced vehicle in Pakistan.
It is also one of Pakistan’s most productive automakers, providing a unique lineup of vehicles for the local market. Haval, one of its new automotive partners, had been given Category-A greenfield investment status in Pakistan, allowing it to produce and sell its vehicles.
Local automobiles industries have been thriving ever since the new government’s business friendly auto policy reforms.
Haval made its debut in Pakistan only a few months ago. The Haval Jolion and the Haval H6 are two crossover SUVs from the Chinese carmaker. Both vehicles were sold out within days of their appearance, which was a significant success.
All-electric rickshaws have also been recently added to be a part of their lineup. SEWL has been able to offer its goods in nations with better Electric Vehicle (EV) ecosystems due to this progress.
SEWL is also in partnership with the Chinese automaker BAIC. The company had made an appearance in the PAPS auto show in February 2020 and displayed three of its vehicles, all of which received positive feedback from the public.
