The COVID-19 cases continue to spike as Pakistan registered 2,607 new cases. Furthermore, 21 people succumbed to death, according to the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC).
On July 18, the total number of active cases in the country stands at 47,331. Yesterday, 48,816 tests were conducted across Pakistan and the positivity ratio was recorded at 5.34%.
The total number of coronavirus cases in Pakistan since the pandemic began has risen to 989,275.
As far as the recoveries are concerned, 919,163 people have recovered from the infection in total, while 22,781 have succumbed to the virus.
Govt may call Pakistan Army to implement COVID-19 SOPs: Dr Faisal Sultan
Last week, the Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on National Health Services Dr Faisal Sultan said that the government might call Pakistan Army to implement COVID-19 SOPs in the country.
While addressing the media in Islamabad, Dr Faisal said that there is a definitive surge in the coronavirus cases in Pakistan and is mainly due to the negligence of the people.
The positivity ratio in the country has spiked from 2% to 4% in the last few days. The minister said that the main reason for this increase in cases is the Delta variant from India.
