The fourth wave of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc in Pakistan as it recorded over 4,000 new cases for the second day in a row. In the last 24 hours, 4,497 people tested positive for COVID-19 while 76 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Sindh followed by Punjab.

As of July 29, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 59,761. On Wednesday, 59,707 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 20,438; Punjab: 17,667; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP): 11,686 Islamabad(ICT): 4,622; Balochistan: 3,393; Gilgit-Baltistan(GB): 813 and Azad Kashmir (AJK): 1,088.

Out of 1,756 ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients in the country, 301 ventilators are currently occupied. There is no patient on the ventilator Balochistan. So far, Pakistan has seen a total of 927,599 recoveries.

A total of 1,008,446 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 23,093; Balochistan: 29,571; GB: 7,747; ICT: 85,780, KP: 141,925; Punjab: 353,238 and Sindh: 937,354.

Till now, Pakistan has recorded 23,209 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 10,995 casualties followed by Sindh: 5,903 KP: 4,435; Islamabad: 797; Balochistan: 326; GB: 133 and AJK: 620.

639 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 3,486 patients being treated across the country. A total of 15,878,471 tests have been conducted so far in the country since the pandemic started.
