In a bid to stem the spread of COVID-19, the Government of Punjab has imposed lockdown in seven areas of Lahore. These areas include Askari X, Defence Phase II and III, Sarwar Colony and Shad Bagh and Shalimar according to a notification issued by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Health Care Department.
The above-mentioned localities have been sealed for the next two weeks. All medical shops will remain open. Milk and meat shops will be open from 7am to 7pm while grocery stores, fruits and vegetable shops will function from 9am to 7pm
In the last 24 hours, 958 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Pakistan while 47 lost their lives, according to the latest statistics released by the National Command and Control Centre (NCOC). Most casualties were seen in the province of Punjab followed by Sindh.
As of February 16, the total active COVID-19 cases in Pakistan stand at 25,383. Yesterday, 31,905 tests were conducted with Sindh conducting 10,609: Punjab: 10,445; Khyber Pakhtunkhwa: 5,775; Islamabad: 3,845; Balochistan: 437; Gilgit-Baltistan: 339 and Azad Kashmir: 485.
Of the ventilators reserved for COVID-19 patients, 255 are occupied across Pakistan. 32% of the reserved ventilators are occupied in Bahawalpur, 37% in Multan, 31% in Islamabad, and 37% in Lahore. No patients are on ventilators in Balochistan, AJK, and GB. Of the allotted oxygen beds, 61% are occupied in Gujrat, 23% in Multan, 40% in Peshawar, and 21% in Lahore.
A total of 564,824 cases have been detected so far in the country with AJK reporting 9,532; Balochistan: 18,946; GB: 4,941; ICT: 42,808, KPK: 69,885; Punjab: 164,696 and Sindh: 254,016.
Till now, Pakistan has recorded 12,380 deaths. Punjab is on top of the list with 5,084 casualties followed by Sindh: 4,226; KPK: 2,000; Islamabad: 486; Balochistan: 199; GB: 102 and AJK: 283.
631 hospitals in Pakistan are equipped with COVID-19 facilities with 2,101 patients being treated. Till now, Pakistan has conducted 8,498,022 tests.
