The National Command and Operation Centre revealed at a meeting that it will likely revisit its former decision regarding the opening of educational institutions, as COVID-19 cases continue to rise at an alarming rate.

Chaired by Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, the session was centered around rising coronavirus cases across the country and the vaccination drive, stated the APP.

Following the meeting, the decision to open cinemas, indoor weddings and dine-in restaurants was also suspended. It was also observed that SOP’s related to the virus were not being followed by the masses.

Today alone, Pakistan recorded 1,592 new COVID-19 infections and 22 deaths. So far, a total of 499,517 COVID-19 cases have been reported. 9,246,827 tests have so far been conducted in Pakistan, and 10,598 total deaths have been registered.
